DAMKA Leadership Engages Indian Foundation on Support for Vulnerable Children and Families
22 October 2026
HYDERABAD, INDIA — The leadership of Don Amolo Memorial Kids Ark (DAMKA) has engaged with John Foundation in Hyderabad, India, in a visit focused on exchanging experiences in supporting vulnerable children and families.
DAMKA Founder and Director Dorothy Carolyne Mabunde, accompanied by Co-Director Mr. Ben Mukolwe, paid a courtesy call to John Foundation Founder and Director Mr. John Saji at his office.
Founded in 2012, DAMKA in partnership with SolidarMed supports children and adolescents living with HIV and people living with sickle cell disease (SCD), helping them access medication, education, psychosocial support, and other essential services.
John Foundation began in 2007 when Mr. Saji and his wife, Cynthia John, took in two vulnerable girls who faced the risk of trafficking. Their intervention laid the foundation for an organization that supports vulnerable children and women through education, vocational training, and empowerment initiatives.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and learn from each organization's approach to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in child welfare, education, and family support.
Mabunde is also expected to speak at the Global Action Network for Sickle Cell and Other Inherited Blood Disorders (GANSID) Conference in Hyderabad this week, further contributing to discussions on issues affecting people and families living with inherited blood disorders.
